Dog Day Afternoon

We took advantage of our first 30+ degree day and went outside for a bit. Kids and dogs alike enjoyed the warmer weather. Spring, are you listening? We miss you! We are ready for you! Please come back!

Big Boy Bed

It's been a week and Tractor Boy is still sleeping in his big boy bed with NO problems! He goes to bed really well and still naps on the weekends. He is so funny...he will still stay in bed and call for me to get him out. So glad he hasn't been getting up in the middle of the night. Here are a couple pics of his room complete with car bed. It looked so big in there with the crib, but now that the crib is down and car bed in place, it looks TINY! (Any dustbunnies you see have been photoshopped in. Don't want anyone feeling badly about their own house.)

Happy Birthday to Me

I turned 31 Thursday. 31. I am not sure when this happened. The last time I looked I was 25. And suddenly I am in my 30s with 2 kids. I also met my husband on my birthday 10 years ago. 10 years is a long time. Think of the years from 10-20. That's huge! But I swear I blinked on my 21st birthday and now we have been together 10 years. I have no idea where that time went, nor what we did prior to kids. I can't even remember b.k. I am sure it involved dinners out, relaxing evenings, bubble baths without an audience, etc. Today, for example, b.k. I was surely still in bed. Now, however, I have been up for an hour and a half. Barney is on. Little Miss is running around here in a sweatshirt and high heels. Tractor Boy is building a baracade in his doorway proclaiming, "No girls allowed!" How times have changed.

We are going out to dinner tonight at one of our favorite restaurants, Palomino, to celebrate my birthday and our 10 years together. My sister is baby-sitting. This is a big deal for us, because we rarely go out. So I am very excited to have a grown-up evening. The rest of today will include laundry, picking up toys, trying to get pants on Little Miss, dishes, etc.

Good times.

Bath Time

It was bath time around here again today. I know, once a week is a lot, but we like to keep clean. Here is a pic while my bubble bath was still filling.

"Hey, I think I hear Mommy trying to relax."

Scale

I am buying a new scale today. The only one we have is the old back and forth thing that I can never really get an accurate reading on, especially without my glasses/contacts. And right now, every pound counts. So, we are off to Target for a digital scale. I plan on posting my weight loss each week, maybe every other week. Don't get too excited, I am not actually posting my weight...just how much I lose each weigh-in. I have been doing great lately. Breakfast is Special K or Special K bar. (By the way, have you tried the Special K Bliss Orange bars?! OMG! So good!)

Anyway...where was I?! Oh, lunch is Lean Cuisine. I am trying to drink 64 ounces of water a day. I don't know how many of you out there are teachers, but try drinking 64 ounces of water with no aide after 9:30 a.m. It just doesn't work. But I am trying. Supper is usually a smaller portion of whatever I happen to be fixing that night or another Lean Cuisine. I usually have a snack of another Special K bar in there somewhere too. I have been walking at work. So, hopefully we will start to see real results soon...especially after seriously looking at bridesmaid dresses. Lord help me...

It's a Major Award

Look what I got! My friend Christy (okay, she's not my friend because I don't actually know her, but if I did know her, I am sure we would be friends) gave me a major award today. It's the kind of award that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

So I think I am supposed to share the love. So, here are a few blogs that make my day when I have time to actually get on here and have my day made.

Okay, the problem is, I don't know how to make links right here. Hmmmm, what's an HTML challenged girl to do?!

Okay, see the list over there >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

that says "My Daily Fix"? Yeah, those. They make my day. Go check them out!

Little Miss

So everyone seems to have cute code words for their significant others and children, so I have been contemplating what to call mine. I will experiment with a couple names in this disgusting story. Had you told me 4 1/2 years ago (before I had kids) that this would happen, I would have laughed in your face.

Last night I was putting Little Miss to bed. I had put her to bed with her blankeys and paci. I had left the room and was getting Tractor Boy ready for bed when I hear Little Miss fussing.

I go into her room where she is holding her hand and index finger up shaking it at me (still with paci in her mouth.) I say, "Oh, do you have an ouchie?" and proceed to kiss her finger.

BIG MISTAKE.

She takes out her paci and says, "No, something came out of my nose." Ummmm, what?! Sure enough, I look at her finger, THAT I JUST KISSED, and there was a big booger on it.

I looked at her and said, "Are you kidding me?!" She of course shook her head no and insisted I remove the foreign object from her finger.

Moral of the story: Kids are gross.

Dear Peyton and Co.

Oh, Peyton. I bragged you up and you let me down. I knew Tom Brady in all his perfect perfection would beat Jacksonville. I was hoping they would. There would be nothing better than to see you put an end to that perfection in Foxborough. Little did I know San Diego was going to come and kill my dreams. I hope you're happy.

I certainly didn't think the Manning going to the Playoffs would be this guy.

Down with the Patriots

For all of you Patriot haters out there, here's a little joke to brighten your day.

Four football fans - a Cowboys fan, an Eagles fan, a Colts fan, and a Patriots fan - are climbing a mountain and arguing about who loves his team more.

The Cowboys fan insists he is the most loyal. 'This is for the Cowboys!' he yells, and jumps off the side of the mountain.

Not to be outdone, the Eagles fan shouts, 'This is for the Eagles!' and throws himself off the mountain.

The Colts fan is next to profess his love for his team. He yells, 'This is for everyone!' and pushes the Patriot fan off the mountain.

Go Colts!

Always a Bridesmaid

So my sister is engaged and I am the maid of honor. I am very excited about it, can't wait actually. I have only been a maid of honor once before but didn't really get to do the traditional maid of honor responsibilities. The wedding is next December. It will be very beautiful and very elegant. And did I mention my sister is tall, blonde, and thin?! And I have to stand NEXT to her? So, basically, I have 11 months and one day to lose weight. I don't have a particular number, I just need to get my ass in gear before I can even consider getting into a bridesmaid dress. At the moment, this is what I am willing to wear.

Unfortuantely, I have a feeling she is expecting something more like this.

So, all of you out there willing to help a sister out, I am counting on you to keep me occupied and out of the kitchen. Sure, you might say, "Lay off the mochas, already!" I know, I know. Believe it or not, today I got a skinny mocha latte. One word sums up that "coffee." Puke.
It's gonna take more than laying off the mochas, ladies. I am talking water all day long, easy on the after school snacks. Okay, no after school snacks that don't rhyme with barrots or melery. My partner teacher and I did start walking after school before Christmas break. I think if we keep that up and I keep eating healthy and not eating snacks, my kids' supper, and my own supper, we will be alright.
Any tips?

Calgon, Take Me Away

So, this morning I think I can sneak off for a few minutes to take a bath, complete with my new Bath and Body Bubble Bath. Kids are occupied, all is well with the world. The SECOND my daughter hears the bath water, she drags her Princess chair right in front of the tub exclaiming, "I want to watch you." GGGGGRRREAT.

Why is it momma's only moment of relaxation is the most entertaining thing in the house at that moment? Kids...sheesh.
For those of you wondering why I have a camera in the tub with me, let me explain. There's no kinky stuff going on. My darling daughter pulls this stunt everytime I go in to take a bath. So this time, I was prepared. :)

"Need any help, Mom?"

"Don't worry about me, Mom. I will be RIGHT here if you need anything."
"Will you paint my toenails since you're not doing anything?"

Seven Random Things

Below are seven random things about me, in no particular order.

1. I divide numbers on clocks, license plates, just about anything really. For instance, it is 9:43 right now, so I would divide to get 4 7/9. I like to call it quirky, others call it OCD.

2. I love planners. LOVE THEM. Well, all office supplies really. Nothing makes me happier than a new pen, new crayons (the smell, OMG) and a blank planner ready to be filled in. I buy multiple planners throughout the year. Nothing makes me happier than transferring all of my old info into my new one. Crazy? I think so!

3. I teach 5th grade. Have been teaching since the fall of '99. Have always taught 5th, with a short stint in 4th grade my second year of teaching.

4. During my first year of teaching, I was newly engaged, newly graduated, and still living with my parents. At the time it wasn't a big deal, but when I look back on it, how weird that I was living with my parents and was a teacher?! I mean, students' parents would call me at my mom and dad's house!

5. I find my husband most attractive in his farm work wear...overalls, boots, coat, sunglasses, hat...yum!

6. My son was due on the 19th and born on the 22nd. My daughter was due on the 22nd and born on the 19th. Is it any wonder my husband never gets their birthdates right?

7. I got a speeding ticket on the first day of school this year. I was going on my merry way, TURNING INTO SCHOOL and there was a motorcycle cop in our parking lot pulling people over. I waved and turned in, at which point he told me to pull over and gave me a $135 ticket. Let's just say I have had better starts to the school year.

That's seven...and pretty random...so my job is done here!

Ham

My daughter is a big ham. I mean big time. Last night at dinner, she started making this crazy, intense face that was cracking us up. So I managed to get the camera in time for her to give us a few laughs. Enjoy!

Barney

So far over Christmas break, I have watched enough Barney to last a lifetime. Not only is it Barney, but it is Barney from the early 90s. Ugh! Couldn't be worse. So, this video seemed to make Barney a bit more bearable.

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe it is 2008! I missed the whole ball dropping thing...I was in bed by 10:00, although I did have to get up with Claire a time or two. It is cold, windy, and snowy, so we will be snuggled up inside today.

Here are a couple of pics for the New Year!

Claire coloring with Cole's new backpack. Cole playing his "electric blanket."

Not sure about the pants situation.
